Primary Literacy Events

To support the changes to the primary literacy framework OpenZone hosted a series of news and media themed sessions in the autumn term.

 

Year 6 students from these  Primary schools attended radio news days in the Autumn Term.

  • Harton Junior School

 

Year 4 students from 6 Schools took part in  Radio days in November and December.   These schools really got inspired and  intend to run their own school radio shows.

Key Stage 1 pupils also visited OpenZone CLC. 

Temple Park Infants Year 2 and East Boldon Juniors both enjoyed Great Fire of London themed days.   Ridgeway Year 1 pupils made movies to support their topic of Houses and Homes.

Marsden Primary Year 4 used our video editing resources to put the finishing touches on movies they took during a school trip to Arbeia Roman Fort, and then couldn't resist the temptation to go in the TV studio and make their own documentary about Roman life.

 

This term we also hosted a really popular series of Christmas Language Days.  Over 250 Year 3 children took part in these events from 7 schools:

Seaview Primary; Marine Park Primary; St Aloysius Junior School; St Oswalds RC Primary; St Oswalds C of E Primary; Biddick Hall Primary and Laygate Primary School.
